| Yesterday, I tried to catch a black rat snake a few inches bigger than me (I am about five foot). My grandpa called me out to capture him and said he had a three to four-foot snake by his house. I eagerly followed and grabbed my gear (a snake hook and leather gloves- I could not find my good gloves with lots of grip). Once again Pa underestimated the snake’s size because it was longer than I am tall. I positioned myself next to the snake (it was on a short wall on the other side a 15-foot drop) to catch it. Right before I grabbed him, Mae yelled, “don’t let him fall!” I had him, but only for a second when……… he fell! We heard him hit a big metal tube on the scaffolding next to Pa’s house and we all rushed down to where we had seen him fall……. But he wasn’t there! We couldn’t find him anywhere! We looked for a while, but we gave up and didn’t see him again. I will continue hunting for him daily! Black Rat Snakes can get up to: seven and a half feet When they are born they are: thirteen inches They mainly eat: mice, birds and eggs |
