| Tuesday, Mae and I went snowboarding and skiing at Appalachian Ski Mountain, North Carolina. It was 19 degrees with 40 mph wind gusts! Whenever I would strap my boots into my bindings the wind would whip snow into my jacket and face, luckily I had goggles on. During my intermediate class we went on a black diamond slope (the hardest slope) and I loved it! After our classes I convinced Mae to try the black diamond with me. I tumbled down it while Mae flew down it on skis. After a few runs we went back to blue (medium slopes) where I fell less often and could get faster J. The wind got really bad after a while and we went inside to warm up and Mom made us leave early. |

![]() The other day, I went fishing at Arrowhead Lake with my Dad and my friend Aden. I caught my first fish at Arrowhead! It was just another bluegill, though it did put up an amazing fight. It had a very light silver color, an orangey breast, and, as the name suggests, it had blue gills. It was six and a half inches, about average in North Carolina. The hook caught on the gill and we had to cut the line L I hope he survives. I used a hot dog for bait, my new zebco rod and reel (a medium action telescoping rod), eight pound test line. For more fishing tips on bluegill visit http://bluegillfishing.us/ Today Mom, Mae and I hiked to go see the Fickle Trickle (Arrow Head Falls) after an arctic blast, to see if it was frozen over. But it was not as cool as yesterday where it was almost completely frozen over! Nevertheless, it was still frozen over a bit. It still looked like a winter wonderland, though it was missing some snow. We wandered around and climbed up the waterfall trying to find pointy icicles, but we only found blunt ones. Some of the cool things we saw by the waterfall includes: strange staircase ice forms, icicles pointing straight up and icicles that looked like mushrooms with bulbs on top. On the way back we found a completely frozen over stream where we stopped and played with pointy icicles for a while then tried to climb up a frozen waterfall. J
