About three months ago, I caught an eastern newt (eft – see below) at my rental house in North Carolina. My Mom and I went on a walk around our house, on the way back we were talking about mushrooms, we had seen some cool looking mushrooms. Then when we got back I ran inside to get a drink, Mom called me out to see something. When I got out, I saw an eastern newt eft going toward a crack in the stairs, leading toward the house, so I quickly grabbed him. Even though he was young, he was fast. So grabbing at him made him run faster, but I had already caught him so he was running on air! My entire family came out to see him and his bright colors. Even my Mom held him!
